At Shelly Bean Pre-primary we offer a stimulating and caring environment where young children from ages  3 to 6 grow academically, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. 

 

We start to prepare our grade R students for "big school"  by teaching them the different sounds of the  alphabet. In grade 1 they master blending of these sounds, and then reading is easy.

 

Through our play-based curriculum, children learn to expand their knowledge and imagination, develop their relational skills,  problem-solving abilities and learn to be independent and confident. 

 

Our outside play area helps them to develop their small and big muscles by climbing, hanging, running and playing. 

 

Add to that our weekly art and computer lessons and we say:  "excuse the noise and mess, we are learning"

In our foundation phase from grade 1 to grade 3 we concentrate on writing and reading with understanding. We use the Accelerated Christian Education system and teach our students to read phonetically,  as a result, most of our students read very well by the end of grade 1. The system has been used very successfully  in South Africa, Africa and Scandinavia for 30 years. 

All our students do weekly computer lessons as well as art. Our computer program is CAPS aligned and accredit for South Africa.
 

Since we have a holistic approach, sport is part of our program and we offer netball, cricket, athletics, soccer and hockey according to the season.
 

Our yearly concert or talent show adds to the cultural  growth of our students and is a high light for many. 

From Grade 4 to Grade 6 We do the CAPS curriculum in all the subjects. Art, sport and music are all both sport and art remain integral to our weekly program.

Our high school, Pendo Risen Son, prepares students to graduate with an IEB (Independent Examination Board) NSC (National Senior Certificate) matric, providing access to international tertiary education. Subjects for Grades 8 and 9 include:
